So, what’s on my heart?
In all honesty, the greatest feeling on my heart recently has been an overwhelming amount of gratitude. I’m healthy and happy, working a good job; I have awesome friends and hobbies and BOOKS that keep me entertained; but most of all, I get to hang out with this cutie and be part of my favourite team. Kyle encourages me and makes me laugh, listens to me and loves me, prays for me and pushes me to be the very best version of myself. Oh, and feeds me snacks. And gives amazing hugs. And BLOGS ABOUT BOOKS WITH ME. What on earth more could you want?
This photo – which Kyle just posted on this here blog today as well! – is one of my favourites. Not only is it fantastic product placement for Krispy Kreme and Mugg & Bean (HEY GUYS, WANNA SPONSOR US SOME DONUTS AND COFFEE?!) but it makes me feel fluttery like a flamingo with happiness, because WOW! I’m super blessed! So… I guess that’s what this theme means to me 🙂 ❤
And now, to answer the questions!
Do you believe in love at first sight?
No – but I do think, like Bibi said, you can be immediately attracted to someone.
Do you believe in soulmates?
Hmmmm. Well. I’m listening to this at the moment…
…aaaand it pretty much sums up my feelings 😉 If that’s not enough of an answer for you, here’s a quote from Sameer Gadhia, lead singer of Young The Giant, about the song:
“Every morning we wake, there are endless possibilities; outcomes, realities of how that day will end. Each decision splits into a myriad of mirrors; a system of lines that enlace, tangle, and intersect. But in every one, you and I were bound to meet. It may be on the bleachers, in an airplane, the DMV, a race track, a bar, a tiny ship that crosses the ocean at night; but we would have found each other, and like light yawns across eons to spill on the floor beneath your window, we would fall in love, because we are all and we are nothing and everything in between. We are in superposition.”
What’s the first thing you notice about a person?
Their eyes and their smile.
What’s your ideal date?
Kyle + good food of some kind + books or stories = perfection! Both Kyle’s and my main love language is quality time (and if you’ve never heard of the five love languages before, they’re quite useful ways to define how you give and receive love the most – check ’em out here!). Because of this, we both just love spending time with one another. We could be standing in a boring queue, reading aloud to one another, or taking a hike; curled up binging Netflix while drinking hot chocolate with mini marshmallows, doing a workout together, writing poems on the couch, or going out dancing. The fundamental thing is that we’re together!
What traits do you look for in a friend/significant other?
Honesty, a great sense of humour, accountability, patience, expressiveness, and the capacity to forgive.
What are your thoughts on being friends with an ex?
NOPE! This is silliness. You can be civil, but nope nope, I don’t think it’s healthy to stay friends with someone with whom you were once in a relationship.
If you’re a believer, when did you give your heart to the Lord? If not, what in life keeps a bounce in your step?
I was raised in a Christian household and have always felt a really strong connection to the idea that we were created by a God whose primary function is love:
“…to be in a relationship with God is to be loved purely and furiously. And a person who thinks himself unlovable cannot be in a relationship with God because he can’t accept who God is; a Being that is love. We learn that we are loveable or unlovable from other people. That is why God tells us so many times to love each other.”Donald Miller, Blue Like Jazz
Aaaaand finally, here are a few more photos of Kyle and meeeee, because I love that both Sara and Bibi shared photos with us and I love sharing these photos with all of you!
And I nominate…
…you, Young Werther!
Juuuuust kidding. I’d love to hear from Keri and YY! As always, no pressure to participate, and if I haven’t tagged you but this seems like fun, PLEASE join in and tag us in your post so we can go read all about your feeeeeeelings 😉
